⚲ Travel Diary: Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

I had the most amazing week in Mexico, but have been struggling to get caught up since we returned home which is why this post is a little late. It was so great spending time with family and celebrating our close friend's wedding! Here's where we stayed and a few of the fun things that we did while we were there!

  • We stayed at the Bluebay Grand Esmeralda, a five-star all inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen. The resort included a full spa, three swimming pools, a private beach, a swing bar, a gym and several great restaurants. I thought the resort was perfect! We really enjoyed the food, especially the authentic Mexican restaurant. The beach wasn't the greatest but we still enjoyed spending time there and everything else made up for it. If you’re an early riser, head to the beach and you’ll catch the sweetest sunrise.

  • 5th Avenue is the main shopping area and while you can take guided tours, we opted to simply walk along the avenue and take in the surroundings. Playa del Carmen is unique in that it has never lost its relaxed, bohemian vibe.

  • Freshwater Lagoon Located on the Yucatan Peninsula, México, Tres Ríos Nature Park is a natural paradise where three rivers merge into the sea. The park is refreshingly unique and encompasses pristine tropical rain forests

  • Tequila Tasted at Hacienda Jalisco We Visited a Mexican hacienda and learned about the elaboration process of tequila and coffee and also, enjoyed a taste of all the different types of tequila they offered.  The Vanilla and coconut were my favourite!
